Official Schedule - YU Hack 2015

Saturday March 28:


Registration, Networking and Team Building

Sign-in at the Heights Lounge (515 West 185th Street, New York, NY 10033).  On arrival you will get your name badge, a team sign-up sheet, and some free swag!


Kickoff and Team Registration

Hackathon officials will be going over how the competition will run including project submission, rules and guidelines and of course the prizes! Mentors will be introduced and then the floor will be open for networking, team registration and getting ready to begin!

Hacking begins!!

Let the hacking and innovating commence! Get started on your project, mentors and Hackathon officials will be walking around to help you get started!

Sunday March 29:


Reboot or hack some more

Follow us to the Office of Student Life on 184th and Amsterdam where the hacking will continue (don’t worry, it is only one block away). Or do your thing and reboot!

Recharged and ready to code!! Grab a cup o Joe, some more free swag and start your day on the right foot!

Wrap-up and Submissions

Wrap up the last lines of code you are working on and make sure to submit before the 7pm deadline.


Commencement Speech and Dinner

Dr. Scott Goldberg, Vice Provost at Yeshiva University will speak. The judges will be introduced, and their role will be explained. Gourmet Israeli supper from Golan Heights Restaurant will be served.


Presentations and Judging

Teams will present their projects and will be judged accordingly. Public voting will be open during this time. Good luck teams!!


Closing Session and Awards

The officials will make Final remarks and prizes will be awarded to the teams with the best projects.

  • You have to register @ yuhack.com
  • You have to attend the hackathon in person to be eligible.
  • Projects have to be started at the hackathon.
  • Maximum of 6 persons per team.


  • Submissions involving software can include source code (if you'd like to share it) with instructions for running the project. Screenshots or images are required. Additional documentation and materials are welcome but not necessary.
  • If your project is artistic or hardware based, a photograph of your project for judging is appreciated as well as any documentation or materials.

  • Quality of Implementation (35%)
    How complex is your project / code? How functional is your project? Did you integrate multiple devices / API’s?
  • Creativity / Originality (25%)
    How original is this idea?
  • Practical Application (15%)
    How useful is the hack?
  • Design and user experience (15%)
    How awesome does it look and how natural does using it feel?
  • Final Pitch (5%)
    How well do you convince the judges that your hack is the best?
  • Public Voting (5%)
